Top Five Best Christmas Gifts Online

posted by

in Frayed Threads

In honor of Black Friday, we thought we’d take some time to mention some cool stuff we’ve found online to give to friends and family this Christmas. We don’t like run of the mill mall stuff, so if you like the unusual and the quirky, you need to check these out. We are not affiliated with these guys, we just like their stuff and thought you might like it too.

1. Photobucket Plush toys aren’t just for the kiddies anymore. Esty Gertzman is an artist who creates toys with unusual fabrics like plush and wool. See the entire line.

2. cup and saucer Cozy up on the couch with a mug of hot cocoa this Christmas, with one of these designer mugs. Each cup has a matching saucer and are limited editions created by some of the most impressive illustrators in the field today. We dig it, and we think mom will too. Visit the store here.

3. Photobucket Here’s a fun DIY project, A Smore’s Kit. The design is in it’s simplicity. Plus, who doesn’t love Smore’s? Read the how-to here.

4. Photobucket This is such an innovative idea. Baby rattles made of sustainable materials and non-toxic finishes. No more massed produced plastic toys for the little one in your family. We love the concept and the design. See more about it on the Fawn & Forest site here.

5. Photobucket We love Allegra Noir’s woven creations. We just noticed she added some adorable dog wear to her collection. You know Bruno would love one. Our favorite is the Mojo sweater. Check them out here.

Lastly, we happen to think our t-shirts would make perfect gifts too. Our favorite tee at the moment is Paper Plane. Happy Shopping, from your friends at Frayed Threads.

Projection on Buildings from NuFormer Digital Media on Vimeo.

NuFormer Digital Media, a design firm based in the Netherlands, came up with a way of projecting three-dimensional images onto a buildings exterior. It custom fits to any facade and have infinite size dimensions. High powered projectors can transform anything and give the audience the visual experience of watching something transform before their eyes. We’d love to see this in person. Scary? A bit. Impressive? Most certainly.

NoPoPo Rechargeable Batteries

posted by

in Funky Products

Only in Japan can you recharge a battery with stuff you can find around the house…or from an orifice. Use the teat pipette to collect water, saliva, beer, apple juice, blood, or urine and insert that into the end of the battery. How does that make work? The chemical reaction produced by the magnesium and the carbon of the urine. Strange but true. Too much money and work for little pay off, we think. It’s 15 US bucks for a pair with a turn around of 2-5 recharges. Hmmm, think we’ll pass on this one. Oh, but do let us know if you’ve tried it!
