Old Japan Seen Through Animated Stereoviews

posted by

in Animation, Photography

Photographer T. Enami (1859-1929) captured a series of 3D stereoviews showing life of the Japanese during the Meiji-period. Stereoview photographs are two almost identical photos that when put together as an animation, gives the viewer a feeling of dimension. Who would think such subtlety would bring these old pictures to life and make them pop.

Photoshop Disasters

Perfect graphic design magic:
1 part Lenny Kravitz
1 part huge head scaled to massive proportions
A dash of tiny hands
Remove neck entirely

It’s soo bad its funny. How these disasters end up in print is beyond us.

Counterpoint: New work by Parkeharrison

Robert and Shana Parkeharrison are at it again. In their newest work, “Counterpoint” they explore color and even sculpture. Being huge fans of their first body of work “Architect’s Brother”, it is great to see they still maintain their style of creative and poignant meanings, and have spun a completely new creative series.

Little Sis’ Comes Along For A Walk

The little sister joined us for a walk with Miranda. A freshman in high school and learning how to be a big shot photographer, is a busy job. She came along for a walk while taking pictures with her 35mm for her photography class. But, like most great photographers, we had to sneak in a shot of the girl that rather be behind the lens.

Frayed Threads has a new mascot. Her name is Miranda and she’s a hugely lovable black lab. We’ve decided to start a post of the random pictures we take while taking Miss Thang for her 10 minute walks around our neighborhood of East Village, San Diego. Hope you enjoy, there will be more. Oh yes, there will be more.

DIY 35mm camera

posted by

in DIY, Photography

We just love new DIY projects and this one just tops the cake.  The name of the camera is SuperHeadz Plamodel and its a true 35mm camera (Ahh, how you have been missed film negatives from a canister!).   Of course the real fun is putting this bad boy together, which takes only a couple hours and looks like those model cars we all used to make when we were kids…or just a few weeks ago for some of us.  Just snap together and you have yourself a fully functional picture takin’ device! Have fun!
